I watch, and blog, and watch and blog and watch. It's the Simpsons every day!

The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace

I will not file frivolous lawsuits

Couch gag: The lounge room has turned into a cinema and the Simpsons sit on the couch behind other Springfield residents

Director: Mark Kirkland

Guest voice:
William Daniels as KITT

Synopsis: Feeling unaccomplished, Homer decides to start inventing things, taking inspiration from Thomas Edison.

Discussion: How many of us have had a life crisis and felt we’re wasting our lives? Homer is not immune and starts feeling like he hasn’t done anything of note. This could be a great start to a clip show, and indeed does show some clips of Homer’s greatest achievement: going into space. Sadly, it’s not enough for Homer and he decides to take inspiration from Thomas Edison and start inventing.

This is a great episode. It shows some tight writing, terrific jokes (“Homer! You’ve got it set to whore!”) and general genius in everyday life. Who wouldn’t use an extra two legs on the back of their chair?
